Audiance BBFC

Audience BBFC

The BBFC will help people decide whether or not the film is suitable for themselves or children and are able to make the decision before watching the film by using the certificate that is on the film. This is the British board of film classification.

The BBFC age ratings are U which means it is suitable for any ages, there is PG which means parental guidance which means it is up to the parent whether for not it is suitable for their child. The next ones are 12A, 16, and 18 depending on the different types on content within the film.

There is different types of factors which will affect the age rating of a film for example if there is explicit content like sexual scenes and swearing the age rating would be either 15 or higher as the BBFC does not find it appropriate for anyone under the age of the rating to watch the film. Also some films could be rated at a certain rate as the film could contain violent scenes which would make the rating higher. If there was minimal swearing in a film then it may be rated a 12 or even a PG because it would then be up to the parent whether or not they will let their child watch the film.

My thriller would get the age rating of 15. This is because of the violence that is shown. My thriller is all about a boy that has been paid to kill a girl and he then stalker her and finally kills her. This is very violent which is why I don’t think it will be suitable for anyone of the younger age than 15 as they could get a wrong message or even try and copy the film, which is why I have rated it at a 15 because most 15 year olds understand what is going on and understand that it is wrong even though it’s a film.
